Emgage

Grant Type: General Operating

Duration: January 1, 2023 - December 31, 2023

Organization Overview

Emgage is a national civic education and engagement organization that deepens the civic knowledge of American Muslims, increases Muslim voter participation and turnout, and effectively advocates on issues important to American Muslim communities.

Summary

Emgage is ramping up its year-round nonpartisan voter engagement program in multiple states where American Muslim communities are set to deepen their civic participation. In 2023, Emgage will build on the success of its Million Muslim Votes campaign, which documented 1 million phone calls and 2 million text messages ahead of the 2020 elections. That includes crafting community-specific Get Out the Vote (GOTV) strategies to turn out Muslim voters, such as supporting organizers’ salaries and providing access to voter files and Emgage’s proprietary Muslim voter algorithm to help focus the work. Through the Voter Activation Network (VAN), Emgage has unique access to all registered voters, including likely Muslim voters, and it aims to increase civic participation through phone and in-person outreach. 2023 will also see the implementation of new internal practices for Emgage and a refined, long-term organizational strategy.
