Organization Overview

Muslims for Just Futures (MJF) is a grassroots organization that builds power in Muslim communities through collective care, organizing, advocacy, and movement-building. MJF counters the widespread divestment from Muslim communities resulting from criminalization, structural Islamophobia, and gendered Islamophobia by building long-term power and base-building with a focus on centering working-class communities and women.

Summary

Muslims for Just Futures (MJF)’s national and local work spans the DC, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) region and Chicago. MJF is dedicated to building community power through using a divest and reinvest framework focused on divesting from the systems that criminalize Muslim communities and furthering the abolition of the War on Terror as an integral component to broader collective liberation movements. MJF’s focus on investment into our communities prioritizes economic justice, gender justice, and healing justice. MJF currently runs a grassroots guaranteed income program, a national membership program, organizing institutes ,and monthly heal circles and convenes groups for movement-building and advocacy efforts. MJF also houses a Community Movement Archive that includes multiple oral history projects, a community resistance timeline, and community analysis around practices and policies on the War on Terror.
